Maude Lillian Mayer Callier, a resident of Bellflower, CA, passed away on Thursday, March 17, 2011 (St. Patrick's Day) in Tustin, CA. Born in Queens, NY, Maude was 87 when she died. She had Irish ancestry, her mother being from County Cork, Ireland. Her father Thomas, was born in Wales. She had a career with Lockheed Martin Corporation for some 30 years, much of the time working with a top secret security clearance. She spent several retirement years as a resident of Parsons, and Cherryvale Kansas with her husband Larry. She had a great love for animals, especially dogs, and had many furry companions during her life. She always dressed well and had great fashion sense. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and needlework. She had a great sense of humor and would often have everyone laughing! She will be missed. Maude is survived by her daughter, Lorraine (Gaylord) Rohloff of Camarillo, CA; daughter, Clare (Stan) Adamson of Broomfield, CO; son, Robert Mayer of Bellflower, CA; 6 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary (Austin) and Thomas Owen; her sister Edith, her brothers Tommy and Johnny, her niece Marion, and husbands Joseph K. Mayer, and Lawrence Callier. Private interment will be held at Pacific Crest Cemetery in Redondo Beach, CA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) www.peta.org.
