Mary
Mary Lou Mesplou, 80, passed away on December 17, 2007 following her battle with lung cancer. She was born in Berlin NH to Leopold (Paul) and Mary Gauthier on July 7, 1927. She and her family later moved to Niagara Falls, NY and then settled in California in 1944. She married her husband, Joe, in 1949 and after moving around a bit while Joe was in the Navy they settled in Gardena, CA. She and Joe and their three kids later moved to Torrance where she had resided for the past 31 years. She worked for the YMCA for over 30 years and later devoted another 15 years to Little Company of Mary Hospital. In addition, she had been continuously active in volunteer and fundraising activities for her children's schools, her church and for organizations serving those less fortunate. Since her "retirement" she was an active member and past Treasurer of Las Vecinas, a women's philanthropic organization. She was also a member and current President of the Lyon Chapter of North American Fellowship of YMCA Retirees. Mary Lou is survived by Joe, her beloved husband of 58 years; three children, Paul Mesplou of Chicago, IL, Vince Mesplou of Harbor City, CA, and Patrice Briskin of Lexington, MA; a daughter-in-law Vicky Mesplou of Harbor City, CA and son-in-law Michael Briskin of Lexington, MA; 6 grandchildren, Natalie Mesplou of Chicago, IL, Erin Mesplou of San Diego, CA, Steven and Kevin Mesplou of Harbor City, CA and Camille and Chloe Briskin of Lexington, MA; a sister, Pat Zigrang of Rancho Palos Verdes, CA; a brother Don Gauthier of Canyon Lake, CA and many, many loving nieces and nephews and friends. She was pre-deceased by her loving sister, Marjorie Tibor. A Rosary will be held for her on Thursday, December 27, 2007 at 7:15 P.M. at rice Mortuary in Torrance and her funeral Mass will take place at 10:00 A.M> on Friday, December 28 at St Catherine Laboure in Torrance. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to House of Yahwey, her favorite charity, at P.O. Box 1089, Lawndale, CA 90260
