Dalton, Mary Lee, a fifty-five year resident of Gardena, Ca., passed away on Monday, August 17, 2009. Mary was born in Washington Township, Mo., on February 5, 1914 to Madeline and Walton Wright. Following the death of her father, Mary, her mother and brother moved to Los Angeles. Mary graduated from Belmont High School in 1931. She married Thurman Lee Dalton in 1938, and had two sons, Lee and Phillip. Mary worked as a secretary for Cunard Line and American President Lines until her retirement in 1984. She was determined that her retirement should be an active one, and traveled extensively to Scotland and elsewhere in the United Kingdom, colonial sites in Virginia and New England, Hawaii, Canada, and the American Southwest. She also returned to school, enrolling in various literature and history classes at El Camino College. She was an active member of First Lutheran Church and School in Torrance, Ca. Mary is survived by her son Phillip, and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Monday, August 24, at 10:30 AM at First Lutheran Church and School, 2900 Carson St., Torrance, Ca., with a reception to follow.
