McGuire, Mary Kathleen a 82 year resident of Redondo Beach passed away on Sunday, April 7, 2002 in Torrance. Born in Redondo Beach, Kay was 82. She was a longtime member of St. James Catholic Church. Kay's career began through years at UCLA and USC followed by service in the Coast Guard. She then began working for the L.A. City School District at numerous schools as teacher and then in several administrative positions for forty years until she retired. Kay enjoyed watching the kids she taught graduate and become active members in the Southern California Communities. She also was an avid golfer and had many wonderful friends. She is survived by sister Dorothy (Bill) Reas of Monte Sereno, CA; niece Susan Falconer of Santa Rosa, CA, nephews John Reas of Saratoga, CA, and Stephen Reas of San Raphael, CA Visitation will be held tonight, Thursday April 11, from 4:00 P.M.to 8:00 P.M. at Rice Mortuary in Torrance, with Rosary Services beginning at 7:00 P.M. in the Mortuary Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, April 12 at 1:00 P.M. at St. James Catholic Church in Redondo Beach. Burial will follow with procession to Holy Cross Cemetery in Culver City.
Wherever you are up there, Kay, know that my memories of you are full of fun and sun and work and joy and humor and loyalty and honor and good sense and friendship and a bit of golf. May your family find solace in knowing you have so many friends who love you and will miss you. I\’m one of those friends. Thanks for sharing a slice of your life. I am honored.
