Mary Clark Walton Beautiful, passionate and generous, Mary Clark was born in Houston, Texas on December 26, 1923, and died Monday evening June 30, 2008 at Torrance Memorial Hospital in Torrance, California. Her daughters were by her side holding her hands until she passed away peacefully. Until the end, she was brave, feisty and funny. The love of her life, Rear Admiral Bill Walton, died in January 2002 after a spectacular marriage of 56 years. Bill and "Clarkie" were long-time residents of Oakland, California. After his death, she moved to Palos Verdes Estates to be near her family. Mary Clark was a woman who adored her husband, her children, her grandsons, her friends and her pets. She had a great joy of life, a huge wanderlust, and a wicked sense of humor. She is desperately missed by her survivors: daughters Anne Walton and Kate Cocke, her son-in-law David Cocke, and her grandsons Taylor and Michael. And of course her cat Henry is despondent. A celebration of her life will be held in Oakland, California and she will be laid to rest next to her husband at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Virginia. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested contributions to Home4Paws, a lion sanctuary in Kenya, Africa, c/o Anne Walton, 1740 PV Drive West, Palos Verdes Estates, CA 90274
