Mary Chase, 97, of Rolling Hills passed away on Tuesday, September 20th at home. Mary Dingelian was born December 15, 1913, in Broussa, Turkey. Her father was killed by the Turks, and she and her mother, Yerabag, fled Turkey in 1921 when Mary was only seven years old. They made the journey on a Greek ship named Megali Elas and arrived in New York City. Mary came to California in 1949 at age thirty six, married Victor Arabian and had two children, Richard and Alan. They divorced in Los Angeles in 1963. She worked in Marina Savings and Loan for Russell Chase and married him in Honolulu, Hawaii, in July 19, 1965. She was the first woman to be awarded 'Banker of the Year' in that bank. She was extremely well organized, respected and dignified. Mary is survived by her brother-in-law John and wife Carole Chase of Huntsville, Alabama, sisters-in-law Jule and husband Rodolfo Gutierrez of San Diego; and Jo Pearl and husband Berger Rasmussen of Kenosha, Wisconsin and eleven nephews and nieces. Visitation will be from 10-11 am on Tuesday, September 27, at St. James Armenian Apostolic Church, 4950 West Slauson Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90056. A funeral service will follow at 1100 am with Father Haroutium and retired Father Arsbag officiating. Burial will be in Green Hills Memorial Park, Rancho Palos Verdes on Thursday, September 29 at 2:30 pm.
