ARCHACKI, Mary – Mary Archacki, 87, a resident of Manhattan Beach, California and formerly of Somers and Vernon, Connecticut, passed away peacefully with her daughter, son-in-law, her "second daughter", Jeanette Weaver and her wonderful care givers, Mary Machin and Lourves Garcia near her on July 4, 2009. Born on November 13, 1921 in Three Rivers, MA, she was the seventh child of ten to Walenty and Teofila Kostreba. Mary was a devoted mother and wife. She will always be remembered as a talented lady. She loved decorating their home in Somers, she was an accomplished seamstress, and a terrific cook. Mary was very social and she loved entertaining. She worked at Pratt & Whitney, Hartford, CT and was also a Manager at the Mother-To-Be Store in Enfield, CT. In her leisure time, her husband and she loved dancing. They were the "Fred and Ginger" of their social group. The light of her life was her daughter, Lee. They had a special love and friendship and Lee was devoted to her while going through many health problems. They also had very special times together, traveling around California and just having fun. Her greatest visit was TO THE BEACH. She said being there was like a breath of relaxation. Mary was a member of the American Martyrs Catholic Church in Manhattan Beach, CA. She is survived by her daughter, Lee Berberick, her husband, Gael Berberick of Westchester, California, sisters, Frances Wonsala, Sophie Bastek and brothers, Tony Kostreba and Eddie Kostreba, , and many nieces and nephews. Mary was predeceased by her husband, Leon Archacki, her parents, Walenty and Teofila Kostreba, sisters, Helen Lipowski, Stephanie Beynor, brothers, Frank Kostreba, Joseph Kostreba, and Alexander Kostreba. Mary will have a Memorial Mass at American Martyrs Catholic Church in Manhattan Beach, CA on her birthday, November 13, 2009 at 8AM. She will have a Mass at St. Bernard's Catholic Church on Tuesday, August 4, 2009, in Rockville, Connecticut and burial at St Bernard's Cemetery near her beloved husband, Leon. In lieu of flowers, donations are accepted by Torrance Memorial Medical Center, Healthcare Foundation/Hospice, 3330 Lomita Boulevard, Torrance, CA 90505-9965.
