Mary Blankenship was born in 1919 in Muskogee, Oklahoma, the oldest of 12 children born to Mary and James Tracey Cullen. She was a devout Catholic and received weekly communion until her death. She worked hard all her life taking care of seniors as a nurse's aide and later as an activities director. She loved all kinds of crafting and especially crocheting, and made many baby blankets for various charities. When she was no longer able to crochet she read volumes and volumes of books to the point where a library volunteer brought her 4 to 5 novels a week for several years. She loved to travel when she could and took many cruises, road trips and camping trips throughout her life. She was preceded in death by her husband Louis Blankenship. She is survived by her children: Carol Pearson of Sacramento, California; Donna Reed of Gardena, California; Wanda Deason of Sealy, Texas; Louis Blankenship of Klamath Falls, Oregon; James Blankenship of Torrance, California. and Joanna Tani of Torrance, California. The Memorial Service will be held at Rice Mortuary on November 9, 2012 at 9:30 am. with a reception following in Rice's Lighthouse Reception Room until 12:30 pm. Burial will be at Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside.
