Born August 6, 1915 in Canon City, Colorado, Marvin A. Wood passed away Aug. 8, 2006, in Redondo Beach, where he had made his home for over 57 years. Marvin was proud to have served the country as a member of the United States Air Force during WWII. He had a long, distinguished career in newspaper advertising sales. He was a past president of the Redondo Beach Lions Club. As a member of the United States Figure Skating Association, Marvin was the founder and organizer of two skating clubs. He dedicated many years as both a judge and ice dancer. Marvin had a passion for classical music. He stayed active far into his twilight years by being involved in both tennis, and as an avid golfer. Married 62 years, he leaves his wife, Anne; son, Howard (Marilee); and three grandchildren: Rosalee, Emily, and Michael. In honor of his wishes, there will be no funeral services. Marvin requested that his 90th birthday party be his "celebration of life" while he was still here to enjoy it. How fortunate indeed we were to share that occasion with him! Memorials on his behalf may be made to the L.A. Times Fund for Summer Camps Campaign, or to your charity of choice.
