July 11, 1926 ~ November 19, 2009
Marie Crimi Roser, 07/11/1926 ~ 11/19/2009
Marie passed away peacefully at home with her family on 11/19/2009.
She had a very successful career as a bookkeeper/accountant, and then along with her husband Don as owners of a General Contracting firm in Gardena. Their clients ranged from the West Coast to the East Coast and on to Europe. Upon retiring in 1988 she devoted her energies to community service in the South Bay area. She was the first woman President of the Gardena Valley Chamber of Commerce. She was President of both the Exchange Club of the South Bay and the Torrance YWCA. She has been involved in the Centinela Valley Order Sons of Italy Lodge 1991 as their Queen 1961-62 and Financial Secretary of the Lodge and also Board of Directors. Marie was also Founder and President of the Crimi Roser Foundation which is dedicated to the protection of children and animals.
Marie was also honored with the dedication of the Marie Crimi Roser Woman's Health Unit in the Hannon Tower of Little Company of Mary Hospital. She also served for 14 years on the Little Company of Mary Foundation Board in many different capacities.
Marie created an endowment for Little Company of Mary's Partners for Healthy Kids Mobile Pediatric Van which provides immunizations and medical treatments to under privileged children in the Harbor Area communities. She was honored as Woman of the Year in 1994.
Marie has always internalized the teaching that education and hard work can result in success. She was determined to "give back" and can be described as a very smart woman. She combined this with integrity, wonderful charm and empathetic spirit.
She leaves behind her son Vincent; his wife Teri; Marie's granddaughter Vanessa Marie Aasted and her husband Jon; Marie's nieces Emily and Laura Sedgewick; her very best friend MaryAnn Feurerstein; and many more relatives and friends.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at White & Day Colonial Mortuary in Redondo Beach on Monday November 23, 2009 from 4 to 8pm, with a Vigil Service beginning at 7pm. The Service will be held at the Risen Christ Chapel at Holy Cross Cemetery in Culver City on Tuesday at 11:30am, followed by burial at the cemetery. A reception follows at the Sons of Italy Hall on Carson in Torrance. The family wishes that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Providence Trinity Care Hospice (PTCH) Foundation in memory of Marie Crimi Roser.
