Maria Rita Felix was born May 22, 1925 in Azusa, California and was raised in Susticacan, Zacatecas (Mexico) until the age of 15. She returned to California and resided in Los Angeles for 65 years of her life. She married, raised a family, worked as a Laundry Presser and was a faithful member of Mother of Sorrows Church. Her personal interests included watching novelas and collecting Indian Artifacts. She also enjoyed listening to the music of Pedro Infante, Amalia Mendoza and Elvis Presley. Above all she was a compassionate and devoted person who loved spending time with her family. Maria Rita Felix passed away on Wednesday, August 1, 2007 in Downey. She is survived by her husband Pedro A. Felix, Sr., and children Alice Gonzalves, Raul Felix, Olga Felix, Marylou Gutierrez, Maximo Felix, Linda Felix, Santiago Felix, Rita Wooley, Pedro A. Felix, Jr., and Elizabeth Navarro. She is also survived by her sister Francisca Marquez, 38 grandchildren and 57 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father Martin Lopez, her mother Romualda Lopez, and her son Juan Antonio (Tony) Felix. In celebration of her life a rosary service will be held at St. Joseph’s Church on Tuesday, August 7 at 7:00 p.m. The funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, August 8 at 10:00 a.m. followed by the burial at Calvary Cemetery & Mausoleum Archdiocese of Los Angeles.
