Margaret Gioia (1926 - 2013)
Margaret was born in Buffalo, New York Sunday May 30th 1926. She married Carmelo Gioia in 1945 and moved to California in 1954. They settled in Hawthorne where she resided for 53 years. Margaret was a terrific role model with a great work ethic. She enjoyed a long career in Retail and retired in 2001 after 25 years with Montgomery Ward. Margaret was loved by everyone who knew her; she had a great sense of humor and the ability to put people at ease with a smile or a kind word. She was a remarkably strong woman and a cancer survivor. Many will remember that she loved baseball and was a Dodger fan above all. Margaret truly believed in and loved family, it meant the most to her, a Mother of 5, a Grandmother of 14 and a Great Grandmother of 9. Margaret is survived by her sons Gerald, James, Michael, Anthony and daughter Mary. A celebration of her life will be held at the San Pedro Elk's Lodge at 1748 Cumbre Drive, San Pedro, CA 90732 on Saturday, June 22nd, 2013 at 11:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Lung Association. http://www.lung.org/associations/states/california/ways-to-donate/.
