Margaret "Peg" Plummer
A long time resident of Torrance, Peg Plummer passed away on April 15, 2008 at Gardena Memorial Hospital in Gardena. Peg was born on January 26, 1929 in Atchison, Kansas, and moved to the South Bay in the early 1950s. Peg served as the head of pediatric nursing at St. John's Hospital in Santa Monica for several years before serving as the administrator of St. Catherine Laboure Catholic Church in Torrance for more than forty years. Peg was also involved in numerous charitable causes, most notably her work with the House of Yahweh, a charity for the poor. During Peg's service to St. Catherine's, Peg was bestowed numerous awards, including a commendation from Pope John Paul II.
Peg was preceded in death by her parents, William F. Cahill and Rose M. Caton; sister, Beatrice Cahill; brother, Richard Cahill. Peg is survived by her husband of fifty-five years, Larry; daughter, Teri Ittner (Mark) of Torrance; son, Kevin Plummer (Michelle) of Aliso Viejo; three grandchildren, Dennis Ittner, Kristian Plummer, and Kathryn Plummer. A Vigil Service will be held at St. Catherine Laboure Catholic Church in Torrance on Sunday, April 20, 2008 at 7:00 PM. Funeral mass at St. Catherine's will be held on Monday, April 21, 2008 at 10:00 AM, with burial immediately following at Holy Cross Cemetery in Culver City. A reception will be held following the burial at the St. Catherine's Parish Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Peg's name to the House of Yahweh in Lawndale.
