Margaret Mary Abler Hindenlang Komp passed away Wednesday morning, December 26, 2018, after a long battle with cancer. Meg was born in Los Angeles in 1953, and lived her entire life in the South Bay. She graduated from Loyola Marymount, earned a Master’s degree from Cal State University in Los Angeles, and taught the hearing impaired for 38 years. She was a dedicated wife and loving mother of two daughters. Meg made friends easily, valued those friendships highly, and developed a wide and varied circle of friends who never seemed to leave her life. In her early forties, Meg became an avid tennis player, and enjoyed bridge with her many friends. Meg was easy to like and open to all, and had a facility for acquiring nicknames and would answer to most of them. Her mother, Edna, before her passing earlier this year, remarked she should have made it easier on everybody by just calling her Joy from the beginning. She was loved by many, and will be missed by all. She is survived by her husband, Tom Komp, her daughter, Christy Hindenlang, and a large immediate and extended family. The memorial service will take place at Rice Mortuary located at 5310 Torrance Blvd, Torrance, CA on Saturday, January 5, at 2pm. Donations can be made in the name of Margaret Hindenlang to Providence Trinity Care Hospice, c/o Glen Komatsu, MD, 5315 Torrance Blvd, Torrance, CA 90503. This organization has superb leadership which was reflected in its staff consistently providing compassionate care of Meg.
