Lucy M. Raffaniello, born to Louis and Josephine Buonocore in Brooklyn, New York on May 20, 1928, passed away on Friday August 21, 2020 in Redondo Beach, California. She was 92. Before moving to California in 1972, Lucy grew up and lived in Brooklyn. She attended Fort Hamilton High School where she met the love of her life, Charles, who preceded her in death.
While raising a family, Lucy worked in the real estate and health care industries. She enjoyed big band era music, anything Disney or Sinatra, 60’s rock and roll music, and loved to dance. In retirement, Lucy was a hospital volunteer and served as a Eucharistic Minister in her church. She enjoyed aerobic exercise, walking, cooking and sharing her Italian food recipes with her family and friends.
Lucy’s greatest joy was being surrounded by her family and being a mother to her children Julie (Mike) Fowler, Richard (Debby), and Ron (Camille), grandchildren and great grandchildren. Lucy is also survived by her loving sister, Anne Petrozzo, and many nieces and nephews.
She will be forever in our hearts.
A celebration of Lucy’s life will be held at Riverside National Cemetery on Friday September 4, 2020 at 1:30 in the afternoon. No flowers please.

Lucy was my California mother. My late husband, Jack, and I were so happy when we found our new neighbors in California were from our hometown of Brooklyn NY. There was an instant connection. I loved Lucy! I miss her and Charlie very much. May they rest in peace and may the family have wonderful memories. Love Cheryl Lebowitz
