Lucy Mae Avaloy

Lucy was born in Belize, Central America to parents Susan Avaloy Marin and Benedict James Marin on June 5th 1961. Lucy was the sixth of 12 siblings and attended Thomas Jefferson High School and LA City College. She also worked with the California Conservation Corps where she helped provide opportunities for at risk youth through job trainings and education. Furthermore, Lucy studied nursing to become a Registered Nurse. 

Instead of pursuing her skills, she decided to have a family and that’s when her son Tyshown Derrick Ramirez was born, whom she loved very much  and choose to raise him as a single parent. Soon after, she took on a career with the Los Angeles Unified School District, where she was currently employed for 20 years until her retirement. Lucy was her own person; strong, relentless and assertive. She was always taking chances on herself to improve her life situations. She entered each room with a smiling face and was always happy to be with family and friends. 

Lucy is survived by her son Tyshown Derrick Ramirez; siblings Patricia Wayne Moore, Richard Diggs, Steve Avaloy, Denny Marin, Lucious Marin (who preceded her death), Marcia Marin Dawson, Judith Marin Robinson, Peter Marin, Walton Marin; also several nieces and nephews Ashton Cacho, Sharlette Witty, Gregory Witty, Wayne Moore Junior, Marinelle Villalvazo, Charles Diggs, Adrian Diggs, Adrian Flores, Laetitia Kimberly Robinson, Shakira Kimble Robinson and several grand nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  Lucy touched so many lives and she will be greatly missed.
