Lucrecia
Murillo, Lucrecia "Lu" or "Lucy", a 73 year resident of the South Bay, Lawndale, passed away on Tuesday, July 28, 2009 in Torrance. Born in Hawthorne, CA, Lucrecia was 73 when she died. Lucrecia was a member of Saint Catherine Laboure Church in Torrance. She attended Leuzinger High school. She held a few jobs before going into food service and retired from Hawthorne High School. She loved music, singing and spending time with her family. She loved spending time in her garden, could make anything grow, and was a huge Laker's fan. Lu is survived by her husband, Jose Murillo; daughter, Deborah (Stephen) Belbey; son, Steven (Herlinda) Ortiz; 6 siblings: Peter Lopez, Mary Crandall, Birdie Kittoe, John Lopez, Cruz Salamon, Izzy Lopez; 9 grandchildren: Chris (Andrea) Hopkins, Michelle, Punky Smith, Stevie, Steven, Stevana, Max, Sophia, Spencer Ortiz; and 3 great-grandchildren: Chris, Brandon, and Austin Hopkins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Carlota and Ysebel Lopez, and brothers Tony and Corky Lopez. A gathering of family & friends will be held at White & Day Mortuary in Manhattan Beach on Wednesday August 5, 2009 from 2-6pm. The Rosary and Vigil will begin at 6pm, followed by a Reception in the Lighthouse room until 9pm, all at the Mortuary.
