November 27, 1932 ~ December 5, 2023

Born in: Kersey, Pennsylvania
Resided in: El Segundo, California

Lucille (Dinsmore) Goodreau passed away in the El Segundo home where she lived since 1961 on Tuesday morning, December 5, 2023, one week after her 91st birthday. She was born the sixth of ten children to the late Frank and Gertrude Dinsmore in Kersey, Pennsylvania on November 27, 1932. After her family moved to St. Mary’s, Pennsylvania, she attended St. Mary’s High School, graduating in 1950.

After graduation, she worked briefly as a soda jerk then got an office job at Speer Carbon Company where a friend and coworker introduced her to Theodore (Ted) Goodreau who she would eventually marry on a snowy Thanksgiving Day, November 22, 1956, in St. Mary’s Catholic Church. The newlyweds then set out for California where Ted had a job waiting for him at Hughes Aircraft, and they settled in El Segundo.

Ted and Lucille were active members of St. Anthony Catholic Church, where he was one of the parish’s first Deacons and she volunteered for many committees and activities, including selling 50/50 tickets, calling bingo, and working the ticket booth at the annual parish carnival. Lucille also worked yard duty at the parish school for 12 years, becoming a beloved, honorary Grandma to numerous schoolchildren over the years.

Lucille is survived by their nine children (and spouses): John (Eva), Mary Linden, Denise Thomas (Bill), Patrick (Jacqueline), Ann, Michael (Jamie), Michele Ryan (Robert), Catherine “Kate” Nugent (Dreux), and Anthony “Tony” (Brandi). Those children graced Ted and Lucille with 30 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren (#16 coming in 2024). Lucille also took care of many children in her home, including three (Jade-Lin, Shannon, and Sandra) who she always considered her “bonus daughters.”

In addition to her husband and parents, Lucille was preceded in death by her brothers Jim, John, Dennis, and Frank Dinsmore, sisters Audrey Bauer, Shirley Johnson, Clarice Dinsmore, Monica Martin, and Gertrude “Trudy” Dinsmore, and grandsons Kenneth Thomas, Ryan Nugent and Dane Kissel.

Services will be held on Friday, December 15, at St. Anthony Catholic Church, with a viewing beginning at 9am, Rosary at 9:30am, and the Funeral Mass at 10:30am. Catholic burial will immediately follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Culver City.
