***** Eduardo Casemiro Meidunas October 21,1973 – September 14,2019 *****
Lt. Col. Eduardo “Eddie” Meidunas (ret.) age 45 of El Segundo, CA quietly transitioned to a higher plane of existence, closer to sunset, on September 14, 2019.
Charismatic and strong in spirit, Eddie is remembered as a Titan who left an indelible impression everywhere he went. He never thought twice about lending a helping hand to anyone and honorably served the country he loved with verve! His long valiant battle against Stage IV Cancer was epic and ultimately a second round of a very complex pnemonia, alas, claimed our rock star.
Eduardo was born in Sao Paulo, Brazil to Brazilian Mother, Maria Aldona Meidunas and Lithuanian Father, Alger Peter Meidunas. At 5 years of age his family immigrated to the United States – ultimately landing in Delran, N.J. Reluctantly known as the Lithuanian Robert Redford in his High School Years, Eddie graduated from Delran High School (’92) displaying academic prowess, vocal/instrumental star quality, and athletic vivacity. He then made his family proud by graduating from the U.S. Airforce Academy, CO in 1996.
Eddie served his country for 25 years as a soldier and scientist attaining the rank of Lieutenant Colonel securing a PhD in Space Systems Engineering, Masters in Elec/Eng Electro-Optics, a Masters in Physics, and ranked as a blue belt in Brazilian Jujitsu along the way. As a single Father (’11) he prized spending quality time with his two sons and after retiring from the Air Force (’16) he worked as a Space Systems Engineer most recently for SAIC. Throughout his life, Eddie was well known as a prolific musician and avid music lover. Whether on the keys, whaling on the guitar, or frontman singer in his bands, his energy was magnetic. Eddie cherished his time spent with a plethora of friends and “broheems” experiencing incredible adventures “until the wheels came off”!
Above all else…he treasured loving his adoring and faithful Family.
Eduardo is survived by his Soulmate and newlywed Wife Stacy J. (Neva Cole) Meidunas; Beloved sons Joseph Edward Meidunas(21) and Maximilian Jackson Meidunas(16); Admiring step-daughter Simone M. Cole-Katkin(7); Adoring parents Maria & Alger Meidunas; Dear brother Alex Meidunas; Loving sister Anne Marie Meidunas Zampella, Husband Dominic; Dynamic nephew Zachary(12) and Spirited niece Zoe(8).
Eddie’s Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, 5th of October 2019 at 1500 (3pm) immediately followed by a reception at Lighthouse Memorial & Receptions Rice Center, 5310 Torrance Blvd., Torrance, CA 90503.
