Louis ("Lou") Kaelin November 15, 1915 - February 21, 2009 Loving husband to Arlene Kaelin; father to Karen Bollinger of Montrose, CO and Candy Deemer of Manhattan Beach; grandfather to Jim, Doug and David Bollinger, Jill Nowak, and Kevin, Andy and Brian Deemer; and great-grandfather to Suzanne and Leticia Bollinger and Jessica and Owen Nowak. Louis was one of eleven children born to Henry and Rose Kaelin of Louisville, KY. He graduated Cum Laude from Male High School and worked for the Louisville Courier-Journal. He was a lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force, serving as a navigator in WWII (1941-45), and navigator/bombardier in Korea (1951-53), where he was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross. He moved to Los Angeles with his family in 1953, and was the independent newspaper distributor for the L.A. Herald Examiner in the entire South Bay from 1953-1989. Louis and Arlene lived in Rancho Palos Verdes from 1958-2006 and were one of the founding families of St. John Fisher Catholic Church. In 2006 they moved to the Huntington Retirement Residences in Torrance, where Arlene still resides. Louis was a hard-working, happy man who loved golf, baseball, coffee, and the Sunday comics. Visitation: Thursday, February 26, 1pm until 4pm at McCormick Mortuary, 1998 Pacific Coast Highway in Redondo Beach with a Rosary Vigil service at 5pm. Committal will be held on Friday, February 27 at Green Hills Memorial Park.
