A thirty-eight year resident of Palos Verdes Estates returned to the Father on March 28, 2002 at age 74 years. She was born Lois E. Shipley on March 28, 1928, grew up in Floodwood, Minnesota and was a 1950 graduate of St. Olaf College of Northfield, Minnesota. She married William P. Maxe in 1951 and lived in Lincoln, Nebraska and Staples, Minnesota before moving to California in 1963. Lois was a devoted wife, mother of four children, homemaker and friend. She had a passion for bridge and was earning points to become a master bridge player. She also enjoyed 25-plus years playing hand bells primarily with the Ascension Ringers. She took great pride in her home and garden and enjoyed arranging flowers and tole painting. Lois was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, William P. Maxe, and is survived by her daughter, Susan, her husband Rick Thronson, and their children, Jennifer and Kaylee; her daughter, Jane, her husband Ernie Hughes and their children, Tom and Melina; her sons, Steven and George Maxe. A memorial service will be celebrated on Friday April 5, 2002 at 4P.M. at Ascension Lutheran Church, 26231 Silver Spur Road, Rancho Palos Verdes, CA 90275. Private cremation. Flowers or donations in her memory may be sent to Ascension Lutheran Church at the above address.
