Linus Joseph Garcia Jr. D.V.M., 72 of Hermosa Beach California died peacefully, surrounded by his family, at Little Company of Mary Hospital on June 12, 2008. Dr. Garcia was born on March 26, 1936 in Los Angeles, California, the son of Linus and Julia Garcia. He is a 1954 graduate of Junipero Serra High School. He graduated in 1961 from the School of Veterinary Medicine University of California at Davis. He was a well-loved and respected Veterinarian with practices in Gardena and Torrance, Ca. He is survived by Irene Green his loving wife of 28 years, two brothers and a sister, seven children, four stepchildren, twenty-one grand children and 5 great-grand children and many, many cousins. He was a friendly and fun loving man who always enjoyed a good joke. He enjoyed time with his family in Hawaii, Cancun and many family reunions. Swimming in the ocean, reading and photography were his favorite pastimes. After retiring, he spent time volunteering at Beach Cities Health District volunteer programs. Memorial Services will be held on Thursday, June 19th at 11:00 at Saint Andrews Presbyterian Church. The church is located at 301 Ave. D, Redondo Beach, California. At 1:00pm we will continue the celebration at Scotty's on the Strand in Hermosa Beach, California. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in honor of Joe Garcia Volunteer Fund at Beach Cities Health District, Volunteer Services, 514 N. Prospect Ave., Redondo Beach, California.
