Resided in: Lawndale, California

Leticia Joseph passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 24, 2020, surrounded by her loving and caring family. She was born on August 22, 1959 to Clemente and Julia Cortez. She was a lifelong resident of the South Bay who grew up in Redondo Beach, California with her siblings, Miguel, Elva, Norma, Jose, Cesar, Lupe and Susana. Leticia graduated from Redondo Union High School in 1978 and went on to work for Max Factor, and then pursued her career at Neutrogena, where she met the love of her life, Dorsey Joseph. They married on June 15, 1985 and moved to Lawndale, where the Joseph family bought their forever home.

Leticia loved deeply and lived her life graciously. She was a kind, loving, incredibly strong and resilient women. Her selfless soul poured love into the hearts of the people around her and her generosity never went unnoticed. Leticia loved to be around her family, loved to dance, and lived for being a mother. She always had a beautiful smile on her face and positive outlook on life. Leticia was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer in 2009, and by the grace of God and her devotion to the Virgen de Guadalupe, she beat the odds and blessed her family with a second chance.

Leticia is survived by her daughter Erika, son Sante, grandchildren Victoria, Donnovan, Nahla and Zoey, great granddaughter Elliana, mother Julia, siblings, nieces, nephews and extended family who absolutely adore her. We have lost someone very dear to our hearts, who will be deeply missed and live in our hearts forever. She will be remembered for her tremendous will, fighting spirit, kindness and love of life and family.

Rest peacefully Let.

May you Rest in Peace Comadre, I’ll Always remember your Big beautiful smile with those big eyes. Family was her whole Universe. She was devoted to her husband Dorsey and her daughter Erika. Family was always first in her Heart, Her doors to her home where always open to all her family Nieces, Nephews and friends; that was her and Dorsey’s way of sharing their Love to us.
The best memory I have of my Comadre was the day that she came to me and asked if I would be Erika Nina for her First Communion. It was an Honor but for her, it was more a Big deal and I was proud to be able to call her “Comadre”. What I will miss the most are her calls. She was so good at keeping me informed with the family gossip and even the Novelas She loved to talk and she was good at it. I will miss you my dear friend and I will always have you in my Heart. You lived a beautiful life even when you and Dorsey became ill.. you took it all instide.. Your little Miss Erica has done a great job with her life.. I promise to be here for her whenever she needs me… may you again have that first dance with one of the coolest dudes I know… may peace be with you… Victoria G Orozco

  9. candle 1Hi everyone I am so hurt sad and upset because I cannot be their with you all due to my health issues and the Corona virus. But thanks to the good Lord I am still here. Will let me get started about my sister, my bff. I remember when we first We met at beryl Elementary and she lived behind Thrifty’s store. We grew up together and lived just a few blocks away from each other..Lety and I had good times going out partying. You know me I was the bad one and she was the good one lol. I used to stay at her house because we were inseparable. We both went to Redondo Union Highschool.. We hung out all the time, we were even cheerleaders together.. we got to go to senior day to Catalina Island, Senior Prom, and graduated together too.. we even threw a party together..We had good times and not so good times. Then my sister got married and had a beautiful wedding then came her beautiful daughter Erica. So I moved far away but we were always talking to each other on the phone. My sister Vic called me and told me she was sick. So I went back home to be by her side. And then she said Val I’m not scared anymore because you are here by my side. I’ve made trip after trip to be by her side and comfort her. I talked to Lety this last time a day or 2 before she went to the hospital and she told me that she had a dream that her husband Dorsey was calling her in her dreams. She also told me that she wanted to throw a graduation party for Erica. She wanted me to come down but I could not make it again due to my illnesses.. I had a dream calling out her name..my husband woke me up telling me that I’m calling my friends name. I told him that Leti came to me in my dream and said she was leaving..she said she came to me because she knew that I couldn’t be there with her to say goodbye. She is in heaven with her family and her husband. She loved our Lady Guadalupe.. please take care of her.. Love you Lety me n my sisters Vic n Viv …Rest in Peace my sister. Until we meet again.
