Leticia Diones Reyes a 39-year resident of, Hawthorne, CA passed away on Saturday, December 26, 2009 at home after a long courageous battle with many illnesses. Leticia was born on December 26, 1937 in Ternate, Cavite Philippines. Leticia was raised in the Phlippines and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from University of the East in the Philippines. She was well known in their province because she taught her entire classroom to speak in English in a town that mostly spoke the native dialect. Leticia moved to the United States in 1970 and became an executive administrative assistant with International Rectifier in El Segundo and worked there for more than 20 years. In retirement, she enjoyed being active at St. Joseph Church as a Eucharistic Minister and often went to Robert F. Kennedy Hospital to give communion to the sick.She coordinated the Sacred Heart Retreat for St. Joseph Church for many years. She enjoyed traveling via a cruise to Alaska with her husband. Throughout her life she shared her stories and lessons with her children, grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. She was a mentor to many and a teacher at heart always. Leticia is survived by her husband of 38 years Jacinto Reyes; daughter Mary Reyes-Gonzales (Edmund) and grandchildren, Jessica Mae and Jared Dylan of Hawthorne, CA; daughter Cynthia Reyes Meneses (Ruel) and grandchildren Tyler Allan, Jacob Kaleo and Kailee Malia of Torrance, CA; brothers and sisters: Rizalito Diones, Renato Diones, Yolanda Fojas, Emerlita deLeon, Es Diones, Bien Diones and Patricia Galang and many other cousins, nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her father Leocadio Diones and mother Albina Villacarlos Diones. A gathering of family and friends will be held with a viewing on Tuesday, December 29th and Wednesday December 30th from 5pm to 9pm Rice Mortuary in Torrance, CA. Memorial Services will begin at 9:30 AM at St. Margaret Mary in Lomita, CA with a funeral mass. Burial will take place at Green Hills Cemetary in Rancho Palos Verdes, CA with a reception to follow.
