Leroy Paul Taylor
Leroy Paul Taylor, age 91, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on August 1, 2022. He was born on June 9, 1931 to Ralph and Hazel Taylor of Canton, Ohio.
Leroy lived in Manhattan Beach, CA for 61 years. He was a devoted husband to Margaret, his wife of 65 years and dedicated loving father of Gregory Taylor, Maureen Taylor of Palos Verdes, Steven (Kimberly) Taylor of Manhattan Beach, Michael (Lori) Taylor of El Segundo, Margaret (Walter) Tucker of South Pittsburg, TN, and Sheri Taylor of Manhattan Beach. He was the beloved grandfather of Frank and Adam Von Arx, Mary Frances and Jessica Taylor, Travis and Brooke Taylor, and Ezequiel Sanchez-Taylor.
Leroy was a hard-working man who devoted his life to his family and country. He served seven years in the United States Navy, including combat service during the Korean campaign. His 38-year career as a planner at Rockwell International included working on the Apollo Space Program, as well as the B-1, and B-2 Bomber Programs.
He was a kind man with a big smile for everyone he met. He loved to tell stories to his grandchildren and visitors. Over the years his favorite activities included swimming, fishing, feeding the birds, watching sports, playing bingo, Lotto, and the horse races. However, Leroy’s greatest joy in life was at his beloved wife’s side, whether traveling, taking long walks on the beach, watching a sunset or at home.
Leroy was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph Taylor and Hazel Shoop, his five brothers, his wife Margaret and eldest son Gregory.
His presence and smile will be greatly missed.
A small private service will be held at Lighthouse Mortuary and Rice Center.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for a donation to be made, in his name, to the Tunnel 2 Towers at https://t2t.org or to the Wounded Warrior Project at https://support.woundedwarriorproject.org/donate.
