Leonard Amos Hanson, 80, of Redondo Beach, CA. passed away peacefully on August 14, 2019. Len was born January 6, 1939 in Fergus Falls, Minnesota to Carrol and Johannah Benson Hanson.
As a young child his family moved to Bainbridge Island, Washington. He lived there until he enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving from January 1956 - January 1964. On January 23, 1960, Len married the love of his life Delphine. They met while he was stationed in Newfoundland Canada with the US Air Force. In 1964, after Len finished his military tour in Wyoming, he moved the family to Southern California to make their home and raise a wonderful family.
Len worked twenty five years for Chevron as a petroleum delivery driver in Huntington Beach, and later as a Delivery Coordinator in Concord, CA. After retiring from Chevron, he owned his own Chevron gas station for many years. In his spare time, he enjoyed working on cars and refinishing antique furniture. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Len is survived by two sons, Len Hanson and wife Danya of Redondo Beach CA., and Vance Hanson and wife Pam of El Segundo CA. Six grandchildren, Terry Barentsen (Tatum Mangus) of Brooklyn, NY., Ryan Hanson (Katina) of San Diego, CA., Matthew Hanson (Ashley) of San Diego, CA., Curtis Hanson of Corona, CA., Chelsey Hanson of Orange, CA., and Bryce Hanson of Orange, CA. He is survived by two brothers, Chris Hanson (Cleo) of Yucaipa, CA and Harlen Hanson (Nancy) of Huntington Beach, CA. He is also survived by his Canadian family. Brothers- in- law, Charles Hynes (Joy), Emanuel Hynes (Joan Greening), Andrew Hynes (Marilyn), Paul Hynes (Debbie Roshko-Marchuk), and Raymond Hynes. His sisters-in-law Greta Parsons (Chesley) and Angeline Kelly (Maurice).
Len was preceded in death by his loving wife of 59 years, Delphine and two sons, Randy and Ron. His parents Carrol and Johannah Hanson. One Brother Dean Hanson. Three Sisters: Beverly Winger, Carolyn Lowrie, and Darlene Elliott.
