Leo L. Fahey Born July 12, 1912 Died November 22, 2007 Leo passed away on Thanksgiving Day at Little Company of Mary Hospital in Torrance, Ca. He leaves behind his wife Evelyn of nearly 74 Years; his daughter, Anita (Fahey) Shearer and her husband, Steve; grandchildren, Gina Shearer, Laura & Jerry Neureither, John & Joanna Gabrielli, Christa & Robert Baca and great-granddaughters Meghan Fahey and Allison Paige Neureither. Leo was a life-time resident of the South Bay. He sold bait off the Monstad Pier as a boy and later became a commercial fisherman. He played semi-professional baseball on the Pacific Coast Baseball League for three years with his brother, Paul. During WWII, he worked at General Chemical in El Segundo. After the war, he went into business with his brother-in-law, Mel Anderson, and established Mel & Leo's Liquor in Hawthorne. After the store was sold, Leo taught photography at Hawthorne Adult School and perfected his golf game at Sea Aire Golf Course, where he scored 19 holes-in-one. He will be greatly missed by his family; care-giver, Romulo Howard and his many friends. Mass and Services will be held at St. James Catholic Church on Friday, November 30, 2007 at 10:00 AM. The church is located at 415 Vincent Street, Redondo Beach, Ca. 90277.
