On Wednesday, July 21, 2021, Laura Medeiros of Torrance, California was called to heaven to be with the Angels. Laura was born in Kahului, Maui on December 31,1935, the 8th child to May Yong Chow and Fang Tai Wong. In 1947, at the age of 12, Laura met the love of her life Sonny Medeiros on Maui. The islands kept them apart until high school when they reconnected and became sweethearts. Laura and Sonny were married in 1959 and lived in Torrance; in February-2021 they celebrated 62 years of marriage.

Laura was a Tupperware Manager for 30+ years making countless life-long friends along the way.  She was also a member of the St. Philomena Pioneers and a Eucharistic Minister.  After retirement, Laura and Sonny took to the road and traveled across the country with Laura’s sisters and brothers-in-laws. Laura loved life…and she shared her love with everyone she met.

Laura was preceded in death by her husband, Sonny Medeiros in 2020, parents , May and Fang Wong, sisters, Gladys Chun, Ellen Stevens, Ethel Medlin, and brothers, Lawrence Wong, Jimmy Wong, Richard Wong.  Laura is survived by her sister Priscilla (Rosie) Sagon and brother Stanley Wong, her daughters Rochelle Medeiros and Danette Lewelling, son Brian Medeiros, and grandson Robert Lewelling.

Services will be held at St. Philomena Catholic Church, in Carson, California, on Friday, August 27, 2021.  Mass will begin at 10:30am with a “Celebration of Life” reception for Laura and Sonny to follow; family will provide location and directions.  In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to donate to The National Shrine of St. Jude, The Los Angeles National Cemetery, or your favorite charity in her honor.

Laura will be laid to rest with Sonny at the Los Angeles National Cemetery on September 20, 2021.
