Ladislav Antonin Majringer, known by most as Lada, as well as Ladichek, Ladoushek, and Ladik, was for 25 years, one of the best residents of Torrance, California. He passed away on January 10, 2009 in Ceders Sinai ICU, after a horrible and untimely accident at work. Born in a kitchen in Plzen, Czech Republic on November 20, 1945, Lada was an active and healthy 63 year old when he died. He was a proud member of The American Legion, the NRA, and the Majringer family. Lada lived and breathed being an Electrician, and his work extended to his hobbies. Even at home, he was excited to take apart and repair all electronic and other household devices, be they broken or not! A proud Czech, he named his business European Excellent Electric. His Sundays off are something that he did look forward to however, when he would go with his ex-wife/best friend, Verushka, on bike rides along Redondo Beach with a group of friends. He was always so happy during these outings. It was the one rare occasion for which he would slow down and take a break from his busy work. Nearly every night, Lada would come over to Verushka's for a massive portion of one of her famous home-made dinners. His favorites were always the traditional Czech dishes, and Verushka made them especially to his taste. Lada would shovel the food in at top speed, and at the end exclaim, "to sem si pochutnal, Mamcho!" (that was so tasty, Mom!). He was a fan of all things "Country Western" as he called them, like his Chuck Norris, his cowboy boots, his guns, and his Michal Tucny. Lada was fascinated by history and astronomy; he was clever and quick to understand the most complex of things. Lada was famous for his smile and most importantly his optimism. He always found a way to make those around him happy. He was a one of a kind person, and will be forever missed by those who knew him. There is no amount of words to describe the love we had for our Ladicek and his memory will live in our hearts forever. Lada is survived by his mother Milushka, his brother Anthony, his Verushka, his sons Patrick and Erik, his daughters Barbara, Janette, and Alanna, his grandchildren Patrick, Natalia, and Anthony, his nephew Tony and nieces Monica and Katherine, and his little second nieces and nephews Patrick, Dylan, and baby Stella. Memorial Services will be Friday, January 23, 2009 at 2:00 PM at the Rice Mortuary Chapel at 5310 Torrance Blvd., Torrance, CA 90503. (310)792-7599.
