September 11, 1915 ~ August 15, 2002
Cannon, Kermit Roosevelt, a resident of San Pedro, passed away on August 15, 2002 at home. Kermit, 86, was born in Lockesburg, Arkansas. He served in the Army during World War II and later became a claims negotiator in the aerospace industry. Kermit is survived by son, Roger Cannon (Sherri) of San Pedro, CA and daughter, Sue Brennan (John) of Long Beach, CA. A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, August 21, 2002 at 4 pm at St. Peter's by the Sea Presbyterian Church, 6410 Palos Verdes Dr. South, Rancho Palos Verdes, CA.
Kerm and Ellan Cannon adopted their daughter and son-in-laws as their very own children. We miss them both very much but are delighted that they are back together.
I met Kerm when I interviewed him for a musical I was writing set in WWII. He shared many stories with me and inspired a character and one of the favorite numbers in the show. Roger and Kerm came to see the show last summer, and it was truly a highlight for everyone in our acting company to meet him. On a personal note, he was such a treat to know and talk to. My thoughts are with Roger & Sherri and the rest of the family. Your dad was a great guy. Love, Laurie
