Kathryn Joyce Skelly, age 29, of Torrance Our sweet Katie passed away unexpectedly at home on July 10, 2010. A compassionate friend to all, she always offered a helping hand to anyone in need. Katie had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed caring for children and animals. She was an avid reader, loved music, movies and especially enjoyed vacationing in upstate New York with her family. Katie was born on May 2, 1981 at Torrance Memorial Hospital. As a lifetime resident of Torrance, she attended Towers Elementary, Bert Lynn Middle School, and West High. Katie will be greatly missed by her parents, Tony and Carol Skelly, brother A.J., sisters Anna and Mary, grandparents Darlene Skelly of Torrance, Gerald and Joyce Payne of Jasper, N.Y., many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and our family dog, Bella, her loyal companion. Services will be held Friday, July 16, 2010 at 11:00 at Salvation Army Corps at 4223 Emerald St., Torrance. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Olive Crest for Abused and Neglected Children at www.olivecrest.org , or Save a Life No-Kill Animal Shelter at www.save-a-life.org.
