Swift, Katherine "Jean"- A 60 year resident of the South Bay, Born in North Chicago, Il. Jean was 79 when she passed away peacefully in her Redondo Beach home on October 10th. Upon graduating from Woodbury College (Los Angeles), Jean was an executive secretary at Hughes Aircraft for 26 years. After retiring, Jean became active in real estate investment and was a fan of L.A. sports teams, especially the Lakers Showtime era. Her passion and real love though, were her Arabian show horses. She was active in breeding and showing of her beautiful animals, culminating in the "thrill of a lifetime", when in 1991 E.R. Shimmering Star placed Top-10 at the Arabian Horse Nationals. Jean is preceded by her Father, Russell G. Swift; Mother, Willett H. Swift; Brother, Russell George "Sonny" Swift, Jr. and Brother-in-law, Brian K. Padberg. She is survived by her Sister, Joan Swift Padberg; Sister-in-law, Jeannine Swift; Brother-in-law, Billy Klein; Nieces: Susan Swift Arnall, Kathryn Swift Katz, Kori Jean Klein and Kamber Klein-Rutz; Nephew, Kassen Klein; Great Nieces: Rachel Arnall, Caroline Arnall, Macrina Arnall and Jenna Rutz; Great Nephews, Mathew Arnall, John Arnall, Patrick Arnall, Baby Arnall expected in November, William Swift Katz and Chase William-Kendall Klein. Jean leaves behind indelible impressions with her loved ones, through experiences shared throughout her lifetime of many activities. "That's our ace in the hole". Jean will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her. A gathering of family & friends will be held at White & Day Manhattan Beach Chapel on Sunday, October 26, 2008 from 2:00 P.M. until 5:00 P.M. A Graveside service will be held at Laurel Cemetery in Murrieta, CA on Monday, October 27, 2008 at11:00 A.M.
