Karl-Heinz
Richter, Karl-Heinz (78) (1924-2003) Died peacefully in his sleep after a protracted bout with cancer on November 28, 2003. He is survived by his wife of 49 years (missed 50 by that much), Betti, his daughter ''Sweetie-Pie'', Susan (Simon), his son, Bryan (Ellen) and two adorable grand-children, Megan and ''his buddy'' Kyle. Born in Germany, he emigrated to the United States in 1957 and immediately adopted California as his homeland. A dedicated engineer, he rose through the ranks and in 1977 he achieved his dream of owning his own company. He believed strongly in the value of education and sponsored both of his children through college degrees. One of his great joys was sailing. He and his good friend Fran sailed often and their trips to Catalina were legendary. Always on the move, he met his greatest challenges after his diagnosis of cancer and an unfortunate stroke in 1991. He was a devoted grandfather and took great pride and joy in his children and grand-children. He truly had a joy for living and shared it with the people he met. He leaves behind many good friends. A memorial will be held at Burton W. Chace Park, 13650 Mindanao Way, Marina del Rey, December 7, 2003 at 1:00PM. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to Roze Hospice in Karl-Heinz's name: 5455 Wilshire Blvd, Suite 716, Los Angeles, CA 90036. White & Day Mortuary, Manhattan Beach (310-379-2446).
