Karen M. Brown 1940 - 2009 Passed away peacefully on June 27, 2009 after a lingering battle with emphysema and other maladies associated with the condition. Born on April 15, 1940 in Salina, Kansas, her family moved to Redondo Beach in 1951. She married Robert Brown in 1965 and they moved to Manhattan Beach shortly there after. Karen was a 20 year retiree from TRW. An active member of American Martyrs Parish in Manhattan Beach, Karen was a loving person who cared deeply about many relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert. She is survived by her son Deacon Derek Brown (Terri) of Hermosa Beach, CA., grandchildren: Aaron, Caleb and Rachel Brown; siblings: David Neeland (Betty), of Elk Grove, CA., J. Allan Neeland (Emily) of Citrus Heights, CA., and Margo Steeneken, of Lawndale, CA. In the last days of her life she was under the care of Torrance Memorial Hospice and the loving care of her mother Helen Neeland of Redondo Beach, CA. The funeral mass for Karen will be Friday, July 3 at 11:00 a.m. at American Martyrs Church, Manhattan Beach, CA.
