Kalina
Kalina Alexandra Sword, born on October 16th, 2003, a gift from God to her Daddy Tod and Mommy Kristina, returned to Heaven on Saturday July 19th, 2003. In nine miraculous months our Princess, our Bulgarian ''Wild Rose'' touched many lives as people near and far prayed for Baby Kalina. Kalina showed us the true meaning of love, endurance and faith. Although she struggled daily with her frail body, her joyful spirit and laughing smiles blessed us all. We are thankful to our family, church, friends, doctors, nurses, technicians and countless strangers who joined our family and enriched Kalina's life. We hope Kalina blessed your lives as well, bringing you closer to God, loved ones and the important things in life. Kalina taught us how precious life is and it should be measured by the depth of love given and received by as many people as possible, every day. We enjoyed every moment of Kalina's life. Every smile, every kick, every loving grasp from her tiny hands, every kiss, every walk, every time we could hold her, every time she was awake, every sparkling look of her eyes, every time she rested peacefully, every moment so very precious. We prayed every day for God to heal her completely and bring her home soon. God brought her home where she is healed completely. We cherish the nine beautiful months of Kalina's life. We cherish the lives of those she changed. We will remember always how deeply she loved us. Mommy & Daddy too will love our precious Kalina Bambina, our Piccolo Angelina, forever. We miss her so much and our hearts ache for the lost joy of watching her life blossom. So we will carry her spirit in our hearts and long to be reunited in Heaven. Kalina is survived by her Mom and Dad, Grandparents Sword, Grandparents Hadjikostovi, Grandparents Poag, Aunt Alexis and Vanessa, Uncle Konstantine, Great Grandmother Smith and her Cedars Sinai Hospital family. Goodnight ''Boobadoo''. Daddy Loves You.

  1. I read of your beautiful little daughter Kalina\’s passing on the 19th of July in the newspaper. On that very same day my wife, friends and family and I celebrated our son Spencer\’s First birthday. I did not know what life was until the day he came into mine. It saddens me to know that our day of celebration was anothers day of grief. Children as so special that sometimes words cannot express our feelings for them. However, the passage you wrote made me understand how precious and special your little angel is and always will be. Please accept my family\’s and my condolences in this sad time for you and know that our thoughts and cares are with you.

  2. I just happened to see the obituary in the Daily Breeze. That beautiful face caught my eye and I read on. By the time I finished I was in tears. I have two lovely grown daughters and three grandchildren. I can\’t think of what life would be without any of them. I can\’t even imagine what your family is going through at this time. My heart goes out to all of you and I will pray for your little princess. God bless you all.

  3. Tod & Christina,my heart greives for you and your family. There can\’t be any thing worse than to loose a child. I only got to see Kalina one time, she was so precious. My prayers are with you on this day. Your Neighbor Mary

  4. Dear Kristina and Tod — My heart aches for you. I cannot imagine your grief but I do know the pain of losing a loved one. May Kalina\’s spirit and her memory always be with you and someday bring you joy again. God Bless You!

  5. Tod & Kristina ~ We have so much respect and awe for your love and strength. Our hearts were forever touched by Kalina\’s sweet memorial. You are in our prayers always…

  7. Tod and Kristina, I continue to think of you and your precious daughter. I just read the memorial and saw her picture. Such a beautiful baby girl! You should be so proud and grateful to have had such an angel touch your lives. My thoughts and prayers are with you always. With love and firendship, Vickie Smith

  8. Tod and Kris, Thank you so much for letting us get to know you and your beautiful little girl… We missed you all when we were at UCLA for two more months, never quite found another bedmate quite like Kalina! We\’re so sorry for your loss, we can\’t imagine how hard it must be, but know that you\’re in our thoughts often, and Kalina is in our prayers. Love, Karen & Lauri, Julia & Spencer
