June Marguerite Bennett peacefully passed in her home on Monday, July 29, 2019, at the age of 94 years. Her daughters, Carol Oldroyd and Mary Nothaft, were by her side at her passing. June was born on January 21, 1925 in Moneta (now called Gardena), California. She was the third of four daughters born to Agassy “Oscar” Samonoff and RoseLee Reeder. Her father owned a dairy farm on 166th Street in Gardena. June was a lifelong resident of California, and was a fifth generation Californian. She graduated from Leuzinger High School in 1943. During the war she worked in the aircraft industry on the navy planes for Douglas Aircraft. She was one of the original “Rosie the Riveters”. She also worked for the Coors Porcelain Company as a secretary for a short time. June and Sam were married in 1948 in Las Vegas, Nevada. They bought their first home in Hawthorne, California in 1950. She was a homemaker and lived there for 69 years. June is proceeded in death by her parents, her husband Samuel O. Bennett, her grandson Scott Oldroyd and her three sisters-Margie, Dorthey and Edna. June is survived by her daughters Carol (John) Oldroyd and Mary (Mike) Nothaft; grandchildren Kelli Payne, Jonathan Oldroyd, Joshua Nothaft and Elizabeth Ramsey; great grandchildren Eric,Cole and Bradly Valadez; Jennifer, Shelby, Heston and Mason Nothaft; and two great-great grandchildren Alexandra Taggart and Haven Valadez. Her passion in life was her bowling. She bowled for over fifty years until the age of 92. She traveled the United States with her husband, Sam, doing tournaments with the South Bay 500 Club. She was active in the high roller scratch leagues the Roaring 80’s and Roaring 90’s. She won many awards for bowling high series and high games, along with 600 series.
