Julia Lopin was born in Gold Country in the small town of Stent, CA on June 24, 1918. Her father was a gold miner turned farmer, and her mother a young beauty from the Adriatic Sea coast of what would later become Yugoslavia. Julia grew up in the house that her father built on the family's farm in Irwin City, CA with her three brothers and four sisters. In 1936, Julia married her beloved husband Martin Lopin and later had one daughter, Anne Marie. Julia was a long-time resident of Redondo Beach, CA and a member of the Native Daughters of the Golden West, Chapter Tierra del Rey #300. Julia also enjoyed crocheting beautiful blankets for all her friends, family and their beloved pets. She also loved flowers, the California Poppy being one of her favorites. Julia passed away gently into the hands of our Lord a the age of 101 on January 16, 2020. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, sisters, husband, and daughter. She is survived by granddaughters Julie Adams and Kimberly Erin Adams; son-in-law Roy J. Adams, and many extended family members and friends who all miss her dearly, and will keep her memory alive in their hearts always. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Wednesday January 29 from 4-8pm with a Vigil at 7pm, at Lighthouse Memorials & Receptions, Rice Center, in Torrance, CA. The Service will be held the following day at 10am in the same location, with burial to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Culver City.
