Judith
Zemke - Williams, Judith Ann Beloved mother, wife, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on October 26, 2008 in Manhattan Beach, CA. She is survived by her husband, Joe Williams; five Zemke children: Michael, John, Daniel, David, Molly Johnson; and twelve grandkids. Born September 10, 1941 in Detroit, MI, to Agnes and Robert Kinggo. Judy was the eldest of seven siblings and she shared a strong bond with them that never faded. She graduated from Immaculata High School in 1959 and received an RN degree from Henry Ford Hospital Nursing School in 1961 in Detroit. She practiced as a nurse at many stages of her life, always providing patients with attentive care and a soothing presence. In 1962 she married E. Joseph Zemke (deceased) and devoted most of her life to being an amazing, giving, nurturing mother and a strong, supportive partner. The family moved all over the US nine times in eleven years due to career changes. Whether she was moving houses, raising five children or taking care of patients, Judy was the embodiment of grace, stability, and comfort. Judy relocated to Los Angeles in 1988 and continued her nursing career. She met Joe Williams shortly thereafter. The two of them spent many fun filled years living in Manhattan Beach. Vivacious and outgoing, Judy was often happiest in the company of friends and family. The birth of her grandkids brought her much joy, a renewed sense of purpose, and a curious nickname: "Swami". The "Swami" knew all when it came to babies. She delighted in sharing her expertise in childrearing with her kids and eagerly lent a helping hand when they needed it most. She could be very determined; when she made up her mind to "mug" you, nary a one was able to escape her loving hugs and kisses. She will be missed. In lieu of flowers and to honor Judith's love and commitment to children, the family requests that a donation be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital by accessing the Judith A. Zemke-Williams Memorial Fund web page at www.st.jude.org under the link of Memorial and Honor Gifts, or calling the donations line at St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital directly at: (800) 822-6344.

  1. Judy and I graduated together from HFH in 1962. We could have shared lots of fun memories if only I had known she lived so close to me for so many years. I will remember her with warm thoughts.
