Joyce Louise LaMontagne, an 83 year resident of the South Bay, Redondo Beach , passed away on Saturday, July 25, 2009 in Torrance. Born in Matoon , Wisconsin , Joyce was 88 when she died . Joyce was a member of American Martyrs Catholic Church., and had been active at both Saint Lawrence Martyr in Redondo Beach and at American Martyrs in Manhattan Beach . Besides being a liturgical minister, Joyce sang in the choir at both Churches over the years and soloed numerous times for sacramental and/or church related celebrations. Joyce also worked for the Los Angeles Catholic Archdiocese for a number of years and was a member of the Saint James Women's Council and the Catholic Daughters ...Court, "Our Lady of Victory". She also taught Confraternity Choir at St. James school , as well . One of Joyce's greatest love's, aside from God and her family, was her love of entertaining and giving the gift of her magnificent singing voice .Joyce had a gorgeous lyrical soprano voice and entertained throughout the South Bay over a span of 50 years or more . Joyce studied voice with Metropolitan Voice Coach , Madam Natasha Albini , Hernan Pelayo of Los Angeles and Helen Bernard Finley of Hermosa Beach , California . Joyce appeared on television and headlined with celebrities such as the Lennon Sisters, Pat O'Brien and Bob Hope . In later years, Joyce coached vocal lessons herself, at her Redondo Beach residence and held numerous recitals there . Joyce will be sorely missed not only by her family members, but by all those lives priviledged enough to have been touched by not only her beautiful singing voice, but by her warm presence and gracious personality . Joyce is survived by her daughter, Michelle LaMontagne of Redondo Beach , California, daughter, Suzanne LaMontagne of Fresno, California , son Stephen LaMontagne of Eugene, Oregon , and her six grandchildren and one great-grandchild . A Funeral Mass will be held at American Martyrs Catholic Church in Manhattan Beach , California , on Saturday, August 29, 2009 at 10:00am . Private internment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Culver City, California . A reception will immediately follow the Mass at Joyce's residence in Redondo Beach , at 1801 Aviation Way.
