Joseph Lester Sanders, a former 25 year resident of Redondo Beach and more recently of Big Bear Lake passed away on Sunday, March 30, 2008 in Long Beach at the age of 59 years. Joe worked in the aerospace industry in the South Bay for over 20 years. Joe was an avid cyclist having toured the West Coast and California to Texas. Joe served in the Marine Corps. Joe was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Big Bear where he served as a Deacon and as bookkeeper. He is survived by his loving Wife, Rosemary Sanders of Big Bear Lake, CA, Brother, James Sanders of Mira Loma, CA, Son, Steven and Daughter-in-law Susan Sanders of Ridgecrest, CA, Son Stuart Sanders of Boulder Creek, CA, Step Daughter Samantha Fleischner and Jeremy Howells of Rainier, WA, Step Daughter Maia and Son-in-law Peter Peru of Lawndale, CA, and Grandchildren, Rebecca and Justin Sanders of Ridgecrest, CA, Liberty, Justice, July and Cy Peru of Lawndale, CA and Colton Howells of Rainier, WA. Preceded in death by Mother, Catherine Sanders and Father, Robert Sanders. A graveside service will be held at Riverside National Cemetery on Friday, April 11, 2008 at 11:30 A.M. and a Memorial Service will be held at the Presbyterian Church of Big Bear on Saturday, May 3, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. In lieu of flowers a donation may be made to the Joe Sanders Memorial Fund, Presbyterian Church of Big Bear, P.O. Box 1852, Big Bear Lake, CA 92315

  2. Joe Bear (the guy upstairs)… This is much more difficult than imagined, I know be strong! It’s hard to not have my Dad anymore, it makes me so sad that you are not going to be there to see your daughter get married…but I know you’ll be watching us. Oh, and no joking with me and making it rain! Thank you for helping me become me and completing our family. For so many years it was you me and mommy…some of the best years EVER! Riding across the Texas state line, my nap during my first 50 mile bike ride, Christmas’ in Hawaii…so many memories. I love you… Oh, and don’t worry I’ll take care of her for you!
