Escalera, Jose, a 33 year resident of Los Angeles, passed away on Tuesday, June 19, 2007 in Los Angeles. Born in Michoacan, MX, Jose was 69 when he died. Jose was a member of St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church and worked at Farmer John for 28 years. He enjoyed carpentry and construction, loved his family and was a fan of soccer and baseball. He is survived by his loving Wife, Guadalupe Escalera of Los Angeles, CA, Daughter, Maria Escalera, Son, Felipe Escalera, Son, Juan Escalera, Daughter, Gloria Escalera, Daughter, Veronica Escalera, Daughter, Estela Escalera, Daughter, Mercedes Escalera, and Son, Roberto Escalera. Preceded in death by Mother, Nieves Guerra and Father, Porfirio Escalera. A gathering of family & friends will be held at McCormick Inglewood Chapel on Thursday, June 28, 2007 from 5:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. with a Rosary at 7:00 P.M. The Service will be held at St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church on Friday, June 29, 2007 at 10:00 A.M. Burial will follow at Inglewood Park Cemetery in Inglewood.

  1. Dear Escalera family, I was deeply saddened today when I learned from Mercedes that you had lost your father,Mr.Jose Escalera. I knew your father as “Chico” and let me tell you, he was a funny individual. He had the carisma of making any topic or situation into a comical adventure. The man had the power to make one laugh, what a special and wonderful gift and truly this is something we shall all miss. Know that each person grieves in his or her own way and that there is no “right” way to grieve. Remember your fathers peaceful memories and cherish them for they will give you strength in the days to come. My prayers are with you and your father who is in the Lord’s hands.
