Jordis Margit Skar McClenahen was born in Hillsboro, North Dakota on April 14, 1914 and passed away May 30, 2006 in Torrance, California. Jordis married Russell George McClenahen on July 21, 1940 in Deep, North Dakota. She was a 64 year resident of the South Bay area. Jordis was an active charter member of St. John's Lutheran Church, formerly Loving Shepherd Lutheran Church. She was a caring 1st grade teacher in both North Dakota and California for 20 years. She was involved in the PTA for a number of years and with the Meals on Wheels program, but her first love was teaching for ESL in Gardena. Preceded in death by her husband of 43 years and her 2 older brothers, she is survived by her 4 daughters, Joyce Choate, Donna McClenahen and Carol (Jim) Rouser of Gardena, and Janet (Bob) Orr of British Columbia, Canada, 8 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren and her 2 brothers, Maurice and Alf Skar. A viewing will be held at McCormick Inglewood Chapel located at 635 S. Prairie Ave. Inglewood on June 2, 2006 between 4:00 and 8:00. The funeral service will be held at the same chapel at 10:30 am, June 3rd. Burial will follow at the Inglewood Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimers Society.
