Lawson, John Spencer "Jack" Passed away in Torrance on October 4, 2006. Born on December 19, 1924 in Pittsburgh, Pa. Preceded in death by his wife Mary Dolores. A loving father, he is survived by his ten children Lynn (Andrew) Rafkin, Victoria Klein, John (Alma) Lawson, Theresa (Steven) Vandermark, Patricia Russell, James Lawson, Mary Hair, Elizabeth Vaughn, Peter (Shannon) Lawson, and Andrew (Melanie) Lawson. Grandchildren Annie, Jeremy, Amy, Eric, Jack, Nicholas, Jessica, Kevin, Sean, Paige, Ashley, Brooke and Jared; great grandchildren Christopher, Andrew, Miranda and Kaylie. He is also survived by Patricia Akana, his cherished companion of 30 years, three brothers and two half brothers. Jack worked for many years at Union Hardware and Metal Company where he was an industrial salesman and threaded products buyer. He became a Real Estate broker when Union Hardware and Metal Company went out of business and was owner of Lawson Realty in Palos Verdes Estates. He graduated from Loyola High School in Los Angeles in 1942 where he was quarterback for their football team and later became a Navigator for the United States Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a long time parishioner at St. Lawrence Martyr Church, member of the South Bay Athletic Club and Coach/Director of Pop Warner in Palos Verdes Estates. A Gathering of family and friends will be held on Monday October 9, 2006 from 4 to 6pm at McCormick Mortuary in Redondo Beach, 1998 S. Pacific Coast Highway, including a Rosary at 5pm. Funeral Mass will be at St. Lawrence Martyr Church, 1900 Prospect Avenue, Redondo Beach, CA 90277 on Tuesday October 10, 2006 at 10am. Interment to be private at Holy Cross Cemetery in Culver City. In lieu of flowers family requests that contributions in Jack's name may be made to Loyola High School Development Fund, 1901 Venice Blvd, Los Angeles CA 90006.

  1. We are so deeply sorry that Jack has passed away. We have so many happy memories of all of the Lawsons during that long ago time when you, and Lisa and Scott, were all growing up.
