Kamar, John M., a 40 year resident of Redondo Beach, CA passed away on Wednesday, January 12, 2011 in Torrance, CA. Born in Jerusalem, Palestine, John was 90 when he died. John was a member of multiple 'big' bands while growing up in Jerusalem and also played for the Boeing Band while employed there in Seattle back in the early years of his career. He truly loved playing the trumpet and was an exceptional player. His other pastime was building large scale model airplanes and their engines from scratch. He always let someone fly them to be sure they were sound, but only once and then they were retired. He still has all of the collections he ever designed and created and they are a sight to behold indeed. John is survived by wife, Eleanor Kamar of Redondo Beach, CA; Daughter Angela Kamar of San Pedro, CA; and Son Anthony Kamar of Friday Harbor, WA. He was preceded in death by parents, Julia and Mousa Kamar. The Service will be held at Rice Mortuary on Friday January 21, 2011 at 3:00 PM with a reception in Rice's Lighthouse Room immediately following from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Burial will be private.
