John Howard O'Leary, 93
Longtime Manhattan Beach resident John "Howard" O'Leary passed away at home on March 2, 2017.
A WWII veteran, serving in the Pacific, he was born in Los Angeles and was a third generation native Californian. While attending USC as a business major, he met his beloved wife, Lee and they were married for 67 years.
He also had a long career in the aerospace industry at STL and went on to retire from The Aerospace Corporation.
He is survived by his wife, Madelyn Lee; daughters, Sandy (Dan) Gerety, Maureen McMorrow, Teresa Guerrini; grandchildren, Ryan Smith, Rachel (Jeff) Willard, Justin Littman, Nicholas Jewitt; and great grandchildren, Andrew, Anthony, and Noah. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Donna Jewitt.
Visitation will be held at Rice Mortuary, 5310 Torrance Blvd., Torrance from 1-5 p.m on Sunday, March 19, with a rosary at 3 p.m. Graveside services will be held at noon on Monday, March 20 at Riverside National Cemetery, 22495 Van Buren Blvd., Riverside, with full military veteran honors.
The family would like to thank everyone involved with the Angels program at American Martyrs Church and the Dial-a-Ride, both in Manhattan Beach, for their kindness and invaluable service to our father.
