Clark, John Frizzell, "Jake", a 50 year resident and native of the South Bay, passed away on Thursday, June 9, 2011 in Torrance at the age of 70.
Jake attended Malaga Cove Elementary School, Harvard Military Academy (Westlake), Narbonne High School, and Cal State Long Beach. His career included several decades in the ski industry where he was well known among his peers. In recent years, he moved on to utilize his retail expertise as a partner in a chain of Hallmark stores. His interests included surfing, sailing, general aviation, photography, backpacking/camping, music, and relentless teasing.
Above all, Jake is best known for his wonderful humor, enthusiasm for life, and love for his friends and family.
Jake is survived by his wife of 41 years, Carol Clark of Redondo Beach, CA; son, John F. Jr. (Donmienne) Clark of San Diego, CA; son, Michael G. (Randi) Clark of San Diego, CA; brother, Edmund F. (Marcia) Clark of Phoenix, AZ; sister-in-law, Susan (Brian) Johnson of Mesa, AZ; 6 nieces and nephews, and a large extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sophie and Edmund Clark Jr. and his brother, Richard H. Clark.
Memorial Service: St. Francis Episcopal Church in Palos Verdes Estates on Saturday June 18, 2011 at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jake's name to the Catalina Island Conservancy (www.catalinaconservancy.org).
