  1. Marrying into this family was an honor and a delight for me, as I wed John’s name sake, Johnny. My favorite memory is getting the privilege of dancing with Grandpa at our wedding. I looked forward to every visit, with each hello hug and kiss. When his grandson, Johnny, and I had our first child, a girl, it made us so proud to introduce her to her great-grandfather.

  2. To all the McLaughlin family: Please accept my condolences on the passing of John. He was a man that I admired since I was teenager. Both your dad and mom were loved by so many of us who attended St. James. Each of you was blessed having this man as a father, grandfather and great grandfather. I will be traveling on Thursday, but John will be in my thoughts and prayers. Pat, give me a call if you have a few minutes (310) 977-7375. I would like to hear from you. Best regards, Bill Deacon

  14. We have been friends with John since 1965. It was then when I met Pat & we became instant friends. Subsequently over the last several years, having retired, I have had the opportunity to spend a great deal of time with the entire McLaughlin clan & we have literally adopted and loved them all. John & of course Faye brought us a wonderful family. Even in the advanced years,John never lost his sense of humor. One day when I came to visit, Debbie, John & Iris were there and I had a chance to visit with them briefly. I decided to leave so they could visit. I got my hugs and started out the door when John said”Bob – I’m not gone yet!” You have no idea how bad I felt but I know John was teasing me.I will miss him. Thank you John for making my life better. Rest in Peace – Love Bob

  15. Dear Peg, Our hearts are with you and your family as you mourn the loss of your beloved Dad. I remember how close you have always been to him, and though he is with you in spirit, it is sad to not have our loved ones’ physical presence in the world with us. I know you all will miss him dearly. We send our love, Catherine & Jay

  16. Please accept my condolences on the loss to your family of this warm and gentle man. The video tribute is at once joyful, sweet and sad, but truly evokes his wonderful Irish spirit. That spirit and tenderness is continued and obvious in his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. I’m sure his soul is at rest with the Lord and my prayers are with you and with him on this sad day.

  17. Jim, My loving Prayers and Hugs go out to you and your family. He is in the Loving arms of God and one day we will all be together again. Love You my Friend.

  18. To all the McLaughlin Clan: Johns passing is sad, but also a blessing because he has joined Faye in paradise. What a wonderful man and proud and loving father/grandfather/great grandfather. Hold on to those great family memories during this time. Sending you love and prayers. Donna

  21. Really sorry to hear about your Dad, Terry, but he did live a long and wonderful life. Your talk about him at Mass was great and right on. When we were in St. James School our Dads worked on the paper drives together and maybe even ushered at Church at the same Mass. It meant a lot to me to be able to attend the service Thursday. I lost my Dad when he was 96 years old and still miss him. Your sister Peg was in my sister’s class. Drop me a line and maybe we can catch up on the last 50 years. Yor have a wondeful family, you should be very proud. Take care and please write. Dick

  22. TO THE FAMILY, I ONLY HEARD OF JOHN’S PASSING TODAY, MY DAD ALWAYS CALLED HIM HIS BEST FRIEND AND WILL ALWAYS BE VERY SPECIAL TO ME. STEVE, TERRY, SANDY AND GRAND DAUGHTER TIERA.
