John Edward Halamka, a 45 year resident of the South Bay, passed away on Tuesday, March 12, 2013 in Rancho Palos Verdes. Born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, John was 70 when he died. He had served in the Air Force and was a member of St. John Fisher Catholic Church, the Board of the Leo Buscaglia Foundation, and the Patent Bar Association.
He was trained as an engineer at Iowa State and as an attorney at Loyola Law School. He enjoyed opera, organ concerts, and Hollywood Bowl performances. He passions included tinkering with mechanical devices, electronics projects, and gardening.
John is survived by his wife of 52 years, Dagmar Halamka of Rancho Palos Verdes, CA; son, John (Kathy) Halamka of Sherborn, MA; and granddaughter, Lara Halamka of Medford, MA. He was preceded in death by his parents, Colette and Henry Halamka; and brother, James Halamka.
Services were private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Habitat for Humanity of Gardena, California.
