Joan Brinkman passed away in Torrance, California on Sunday, October 23, 2005. Services will be held at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Wilmington California on Saturday, October 29 at 10 AM. A rosary service will be held on Friday, October 28 at 7 PM in the chapel at McCormick Mortuary on Pacific Coast Highway in Redondo Beach, with visitation from 4 PM to 8 PM. Mrs. Brinkman was born on March 16, 1930, and spent her early years in Hamilton, Ohio. She was a 40 year resident of Rancho Palos Verdes. Mrs. Brinkman was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 55 years, Kenneth Brinkman. She is survived by a sister, Frances Thomas of Hamilton Ohio, and her five children; Benjamin Brinkman of Rancho Palos Verdes, Rebecca Conlon of San Pedro, Roberta Rueger of Torrance, Rachel Turner of Australia, and Bernard Brinkman of Australia. Mrs. Brinkman became an attorney while raising five children, and worked for many years in aerospace. She loved to read and volunteer her time for "Cheer for Children", but truly Mrs. Brinkman was mostly devoted to her husband and five children. She adored her twelve grandchildren and cherished any time she could be with them, or with her "adopted" family, the Alvarados. She was a calm and steady presence during any trying times. She was truly loved and will be dearly missed by the family she selflessly devoted her life to.
