June 21, 1933 ~ July 11, 2002
Lopez, Joan Frances Knight, a long time resident of Redondo Beach, passed away on Thursday, July 11, 2002 in Torrance. Joan, 69, was born in the Bronx, New York on June 21, 1933 and was raised by two of her aunts who were officers in the Salvation Army, an organization which greatly influenced her activities and her beliefs. She was employed by TRW for 32 years, retiring as an administrative secretary. She loved roses, dogs, and most of all her family, many of whom she wrote to faithfully. Joan is survived by Husband, Rudy N. Lopez of Redondo Beach, CA; Sons, Albert W. Knight (Carol) of Yucaipa, CA, Bruce W. Knight (Cindy) of Redondo Beach, CA, and Chet W. Knight of Redondo, Beach, CA; sisters, Connie Bernhardt of South Carolina and Delores Hansen of Salem, NY, and 5 beloved grandchildren, Nolan, Alicia, Jason, Tamara, and Lance Knight. She was predeceased by her first husband, Arthur E. Knight in 1974. Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 16, 2002 from 4-8 pm at White & Day Colonial Mortuary, 901 Torrance Blvd, Redondo Beach, CA. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 17, 2002 at 11 am at the same location with burial to follow at Pacific Crest Cemetery.
